The Duke of Edinburgh's Award
I learned about this program during quarantine. Since everything was closed and I had nothing to do, I decided to get involved. 3 years later I have achieved Bronze and Silver Awards, and I am working on the Gold Award.
For those who are not familiar with the DofE, the full name of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award, it is a youth program that has three levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold. Gold is the longest and most demanding. DofE focuses on the development of three areas: talent, sport and volunteering. In each area, it is necessary to set a goal and work according to the level to achieve the goal within the specified time. In addition to these three areas, two expeditions are required to complete the level. The first is a shorter training expedition and the second is a longer qualifying expedition. The length varies according to the level as well. If all conditions and goals are met, you will receive the Duke of Edinburgh's Award and diploma, and you become a graduate of your level.
Through this program, I was able to prove to myself that I can finish something and that I can force myself to do something, even if I'm not in the mood for it. During Bronze, the expedition (I only had one due to the pandemic) turned out to be more difficult than I expected, but I finished it anyway. I also met many amazing people and made many memories for a lifetime. I'm glad I could do it. Thanks to this program, I have added a lot of useful values to my life.
